Selin was born in 1957 in Kerala, a small southern state in India. She grew up as one of fourteen children in a relatively wealthy household. Her family was devoutly Roman Catholic, and religion remains a very influential part of her life. Because she grew up in a wealthier household, her parents were able to afford for her to attend higher education, where she got a diploma in pharmacy. She began working at her pharmaceutical job shortly after.
My mom met my dad in 1992, when they had an arranged marriage. After five years, my mom finally obtained her visa and moved to the United States to join my dad. She began working in a pharmaceutical company .
She had her first and only child immediately after moving to America in 1997.
